The video of British triathlete Alistair Brownlee helping his brother Jonny over the finish line in Mexico has gone viral, and the story of sportsmanship and brotherly support is inspiring many around the world.
But what can we take from this in terms of business?
Running a business is a bit like a triathlon. You start out a bit unsure, swimming along trying to establish yourself in the field. Then you find your wheels and you’re out on the open road, getting into gear and putting some space between you and the competition. You go through some bumpy patches but find your way through and hit the ground running. For a while everything seems fine, you’ve got yourself into a good position and can begin to picture the finish. Then it happens. You’ve pushed too hard and you hit the wall. You’re not thinking straight and things start to fall apart. You can’t see any possible way to continue. Where do you turn for help? In competition – as in business – it’s every man (or woman) for themselves. Or is it?
As Jonny and Alistair Brownlee showed us, sometimes all you need is a bit of support. At ELAS we’re here for you. We do the leg work, staying ahead of all the legislative twists and turns to make sure you have everything you need to succeed. And if, on a rare occasion, you might stumble we will pick you up; getting you back on track and across the line so you can do what you do best – keep on running your business.
